Wellington Pride 2026: dates, parade, events

Wellington Pride 2026 is happening from 6 to 22 March 2026! This event marks another year of celebrating Aotearoa’s rainbow whānau with a series of vibrant events across Te Whanganui-ā-Tara!

This annual festival honours its roots in the 1986 campaign for Homosexual Law Reform, evolving from the Newtown Lesbian and Gay Fair into a flourishing celebration of inclusion and community. Guided by Te Whāriki, the festival embraces its kaupapa of being Te Tiriti o Waitangi-centred and grassroots-led.

Exciting Events to Look Forward To

Wellington Pride kicks off with its Opening Show on Friday, 6 March, promising a lively start to the festivities. Highlights include the Pride Youth Ball on 14 March, a dazzling evening for young members of the community. On 15 March, Out in the City takes centre stage, offering a day of fun and connection in the heart of Wellington. The celebrations culminate with the Pride Hikoi & Picnic on 21 March, combining a march of protest with a relaxed gathering in the city.
